Greywater plumbing requires capturing water from shower drains. The plumber runs shower drains down to a manual diverter valve, which can direct the flow into the sewer pipe, or into a greywater system.


In some municipalities it is not permissible to plumb for greywater. Some municipalities are not aware it is legal, and many do not permit its use for anything but irrigation. A conceptual view of greywater fed irrigation and toilet supply is shown below.
